FAS Workforce Planning: Final Notifications This Week

Over the past several weeks, colleagues across the FAS have learned how their roles are positioned in our new administrative services model. Tomorrow and Thursday mark the final days of these notifications for the FAS, with staff in the Division of Science, the Office of Research Administration, the FAS Dean’s Office, and the Division of Arts and Humanities learning if their roles are affected.
As we’ve communicated prior to earlier notification waves, colleagues who receive a calendar invitation from HR may learn that their roles are changing, while others will learn the difficult news that their roles are ending. We do not underestimate the significance of these conversations for the individuals involved. Each affected colleague has helped to make the FAS what it is today through their service, expertise, and commitment to our academic mission. They have earned our care and respect, and the conversations will reflect that. When notifications in each impacted unit are complete, leaders will communicate directly with their divisions or teams.
As a reminder, some affected staff may be asked to stay in their current roles for a standard 60-day transition period or a shorter knowledge transfer period, depending on operational continuity needs. Faculty and staff should continue to work with your current administrative contacts unless told otherwise.
We are working thoughtfully to put resources in place to ensure that the transition to the new administrative model is as smooth as possible. We will continue to keep you informed throughout the transition with progress updates and will share additional guidance and resources as they become available. As a reminder, our target timing for operating fully in the new model is mid-October.
As the notification period comes to a close, we want to acknowledge the toll this has taken on our community and the necessary repair that is ahead. These past months have asked a great deal of everyone, and we are grateful for your support of one another and of the academic mission that has always been at the heart of the FAS. Thank you.
