FAS Resources: War in the Middle East

harvard yard in the fall

Dear faculty, staff, and researcher colleagues,

As the violence and horrifying loss of life continues in Israel and the Gaza Strip, the impacts of these events are being felt broadly across the FAS community. I want you to know that GSAS and the College are already providing direct support to our students from the region. You may hear directly from tutors, proctors, or resident deans if a student is in a situation that may impact their academic work; your partnership and support is needed.

The human toll of these events is not limited to students, of course, and many may be feeling grief, anger, or exhaustion. If you need them, please take advantage of the resources available to you:

  • Harvard University Counseling and Mental Health Services (CAMHS) is a no-cost support service for those who are experiencing distress.
  • The Harvard Chaplains are also available to offer pastoral support and guidance to members of the University.
  • Harvard’s Employee Assistance Program (EAP) offers free, confidential help for all Harvard employees and their adult household members.

In uncertain times, it is hard to overstate the importance of kindness. We are at our best when we bring not only understanding and insight, but also care and compassion for those among us who are hurting. Now is a moment to come together as a community, to support our students, our colleagues, and ourselves.
