Julie Joncas

Julie brings more than two decades of leadership experience in higher education, academic medicine, and healthcare finance. She joins us from Harvard Medical School, where she serves as Chief Financial Officer and Finance Dean, leading the School’s financial strategy and operations for an annual budget of approximately $1 billion. Throughout her career, Julie has helped research-intensive institutions strengthen long-term financial sustainability, enhance planning and decision-making, and navigate significant organizational change.

Previously, Julie served as Chief Financial Officer of Boston Medical Center and held senior financial leadership positions at Tenet Healthcare and Mass General Brigham, where she led major initiatives in financial strategy, research administration, and organizational transformation. She is known for combining rigorous financial stewardship with thoughtful, collaborative leadership to help complex organizations advance their academic, research, and clinical missions.

As Chief Financial Officer, Julie will oversee the FAS Finance Office and provide strategic leadership for financial planning and management. Working closely Edgerley Family Dean of the FAS, Hopi Hoekstra, and colleagues across the FAS and the University. She will help guide long-range financial planning, budgeting, and resource allocation. She will also advance our shared priorities of financial sustainability, strategic investment, and operational excellence in support of the FAS’s teaching, learning, and research mission.

Julie brings a deep understanding of Harvard through her leadership on University-wide financial initiatives and committees. These relationships, together with her collaborative approach and experience partnering with faculty and administrative leaders, will enable her to contribute immediately as a trusted partner across the FAS and the University.

Julie earned an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and a B.S. in Business Administration from Boston University.
