Harvard University Information Technology (HUIT)

About Our Team

HUIT is the IT organization for the FAS, providing the technology, strategy, policies, and support used by faculty, students, staff, and researchers. Its work sustains FAS teaching, learning, research, and administration through services such as learning platforms, research computing, data management, identity and cybersecurity systems, campus networks, web publishing, communication tools, and frontline technical support, maintaining secure, accessible, and reliable infrastructure for everyday operations and major University events.

Additionally, HUIT helps the FAS adopt emerging technologies responsibly. It provides resources and pilots tools involving generative AI, automation, analytics, and high-performance computing while establishing safeguards for privacy, security, accessibility, compliance, and sustainability.  An extensive portfolio, or catalog, of HUIT’s service offerings can be found at https://www.huit.harvard.edu/browse-resources

The FAS has established a new strategic role, the Divisional Technology Partner (DTP), embedded across each academic division, Administration & Finance/Faculty Affairs, and the College and GSAS.  DTPs collaborate with divisional leaders to align technology investments with strategic priorities, guide demand planning and prioritization through established governance frameworks, and advocate for divisional needs in enterprise IT decision-making. HUIT also provides specialized services to select departments, museums, and units with unique IT requirements, directly supporting the FAS teaching and research mission.

HUIT is currently recruiting five FAS Divisional Technology Partners (DTP) and expects to have the DTP model fully in place between November 2026 and February 2027.  All other technology services are fully operational.
