Dear colleagues,
 
I am thrilled to announce that Chris Stubbs, the Samuel C. Moncher Professor of Physics and of Astronomy, has agreed to serve as Dean of Science, effective immediately. Dean Stubbs has been serving as the Interim Dean of Science since June of this year. In this role Chris has principal responsibility for all academic, financial, and space planning needs across the Science division, in partnership with the departments and centers, and advises me on a broad range of policy and resource issues as a member of the Academic Planning Group.

It is a pleasure to welcome you back to Harvard for the start of a new academic year, and to do so in my first message as Edgerley Family Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences.
 
Fall is a season of new beginnings: First-year students in the College are moving into their dorms; G1s are participating in orientation; new faculty are settling into their offices, labs, and studios.
