DETAILS: Over 100 free performances and presentations every half-hour at eleven venues in and around Harvard Yard. Earlier on Saturday, under the tent on the Plaza located between the Science Center and the north side of Harvard Yard, Performance Fair kick-off events include a performance by Silk Road Ensemble percussionist Shane Shanahan and Harvard students at 11 a.m.; “In the Beginning: The ARTS FIRST Creation Story,” a tongue-in-cheek pageant relating the story of the founding of ARTS FIRST, featuring hip hop and ballet, orchestral music, beatboxing and more, at 11:30 a.m.; and a greeting by actor John Lithgow '67 Ar.D. '06, this year's recipient of the Harvard Arts Medal. The day also features “Make Art” stations featuring opportunities to express your creativity through clay press molding, ceramics wheel-throwing, T-shirt “refashioning,” bug-building, acting Shakespeare, figure drawing, origami folding, and ACT ONE accessible workshops in music and dance that are universally designed, wheelchair-accessible and sensory-friendly for participants of all abilities and backgrounds.
