Only two months after arrival, he took his life on November 5, 1997. Ge's untimely demise brought his parents and President Rudenstine of Harvard to attend his funeral on December 5, 1997. Why did a young man in his prime, an international student at the most renowned university of the United States take his own life? In this letter (a Chinese translation), President Rudenstine touched the hearts of Ge's parents with his condolences. Didn't President Rudenstine's letter to the parents and the parents' open letter to the President make us think deeper about our care for others and needs for others' encouragement from time to time? |
