BIOSKETCH BY PROF. HU WEI
"Hu Wei, Ph.D., is Professor of Government, the Department of International
politics, Fudan University, and Deputy Director, Fudan Institute of Politics and Public Administration. He is also director, Shanghai Political Science Association, and Visiting Scholar, Harvard University. Hu Wei was born in 1964 in Zhengzhou,
China. In 1982, he began his education at Fudan University, Shanghai. After he
finished his graduate program, he became a young faculty member at Fudan University in 1989. He has been awarded the 'Excellent Young Teacher of Shanghai', and has been selected as the member of both China's and Shanghai's 'Cross-century Talent Project'. From 1997 to 1998, he is doing research at Harvard University under the auspices of Harvard-Yenching Institute. Focusing on political theory, policy analysis and Chinese politics, he has undertaken two academic projects of the Chinese National Social Science Foundation and many other research items. Among his works are Politics of Judiciary, On Politics: China's Current Development from a Perspective of Political Science, Governmental Process in Contemporary China, and more than 50 papers, as well as 10 books to which he contributed, including Chinese Encyclopedia (volume of political science). Many of his research achievements have won prizes at both the national and Shanghai municipal level."
