WELCOME FRESHMEN!


The department will be hosting an informational meeting on Thursday, September 11 at 3:00 pm for first year students interested in finding out more about VES, what the program is all about, and how to take courses. If you are interested in the studio arts, film and video production, film and cinema studies, or courses on the built environment, please don’t miss this opportunity! 

For tours of the department’s facilities at the Carpenter Center, in Sever Hall, and the studios at Linden Street please arrive promptly at 2:30 pm at the Carpenter Center main gallery on the ground floor. Current concentrators will lead small group tours and will return you back to the informational meeting at 3:00 pm.

Current faculty and concentrators will be available for questions, and refreshments will be served!

SOPHOMORES INTERESTED IN CONCENTRATING (Class of 2011)

The department will hold an informational meeting for sophomores who are interested in applying to be a VES concentrator on Friday, September 12
at 1:00 pm, Room B04

NEW PhD PROGRAM IN FILM & VISUAL STUDIES

The Department of Visual and Environmental Studies at Harvard now offers a graduate program in Film and Visual Studies leading to a PhD. Students will be admitted to this program beginning fall 2009. The Department also offers a secondary field in Film and Visual Studies for students already admitted to PhD programs in other departments in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences.
