Dance Director's Invitational Autumn Dance Festival
Dance Director, Elizabeth Bergmann, welcomes two visiting dance companies
to the Harvard campus to perform and teach. Concerts will be held in the
Rieman Center for the Performing Arts on Friday, November 30 and Saturday,
December 1 at 8pm with classes being held on Saturday, December 1 and
Sunday, December 2, also in the Rieman Center.
The Carol La Chapelle Dance Company from Trinidad, West Indies, will
perform Love After Love based on the poetry of Nobel poet laureate, Derek
Walcott. Members of the company will teach classes in Caribbean Dance.
The stillMoving Dance Company, consisting of the professional dance faculty
from Shenandoah University, will perform Bergmann's commissioned new work,
Delicate Balance, based on the four elements, with a new score by Karen
Follett, and visuals by artist Julie Lea. In addition, the stillMoving
Dance Company will perform other dances from their repertory and teach
classes in jazz, ballet, modern, and Chinese Opera dance.
A new work by Harvard dance instructor, Margot Parsons, will be premiered.
Jodi Allen, a dance instructor who has recent;y joined the Harvard faculty,
will perform the very physical piece choreographed by Bergmann especially
for Ms. Allen titled Undone.
