SOCH Events Coordinator Apply online: Ref # 4186

The Student Organization Center at Hilles is looking for a motivated student interested in planning and running nighttime events.  Responsibilities include: coordinating the weekly Acoustic Nights, periodic comedy nights and other social events in the Penthouse Coffee Bar.  This position will also assist with planning and running events that bring various student organizations together in meaningful ways to promote networking and collaboration.
Skills required: Entrepreneurial spirit, connections with student musicians, excellent communication skills, desire to work with student organizations at the College.
Hours: approx. 5-10 hours a week.  Flexible work schedule with mostly night and weekend hours.
Pay: $10/hour

SOCH Exhibit Curator Apply online: Ref # 4187

The Student Organization Center at Hilles (SOCH) has great display space for student art and is looking for a student curator for the Center.  Duties include developing thematic displays, soliciting artwork, installing the pieces, and planning events to highlight the exhibits. Works with other members of the SOCH staff to arrange opening receptions.  Curator will also work with student organizations to solicit decorative photography and posters throughout the Center.
Skills required: Entrepreneurial spirit; connections with student artists; excellent communication skills; desire to work with student organizations at the College.
Hours: Flexible and based upon exhibit schedule.
Pay: $10/hour

SOCH Recording Studio Manager Apply online: Ref # 6307

The Student Organization Center at Hilles houses a recording studio and practice space for musicians.  Duties include maintaining the recording studio space and equipment; training students interested in using the space; recommending policy and procedure updates to the SOCH Manager.  This position does not provide engineering services to student groups, but rather trains students to use this self-service facility.  Studio Manager also assists with connecting musicians to the weekly Acoustic Nights.
Skills required: Entrepreneurial spirit; connections with student musicians; excellent communication skills and effectiveness in teaching technical skills; experience with digital recording equipment, recording software and musical equipment; desire to work with students musicians at the College.
Hours: Flexible and based upon demand for the space.
Pay: $10/hour

Marketing & Communications Assistant for SOCH Apply online: Ref # 6308

Working for the Student Organization Center at Hilles, gain great experience in the basic tenets of business marketing and communications through development and execution of marketing plans for the promotion of the Student Organization Center at Hilles (SOCH). Duties include, but are not limited to working on:

  • Strategic marketing plan
  • Creation of electronic and print promotional materials for SOCH events and programs
  • Maintain SOCH calendar updates
  • Postering for events as needed
  • Copywriting and editing (table tents, brochure text, Univ. Publication updates)
  • Design posters, brochures and other print projects
  • Web page updates and developing new, lively copy
  • Direct email and print advertising campaigns for SOCH events.
  • Support promotion of events planned and implemented by other student staff members at the SOCH.

Skills required: Entrepreneurial spirit, excellent computer skills, knowledge of Microsoft and design programs (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Publisher, etc. preferred), good writing and editing skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and a great sense of humor.
Hours: approx. 5-10 hours a week.  Flexible work schedule.
Pay: $10/hour
