We study the evolution and function of the musculo-skeletal system, with a primary focus on using experimental and morphometric approaches to addressing how and why the human body looks the way it does. Current experimental research projects include: the biomechanics and evolution of running, walking, throwing, chewing, food processing, and sweating. We also work on morphometric and developmental studies of craniofacial growth in humans, hominins, and other mammals.
