"As a doctor and a pediatrician, I think about my children’s safety if they were ever to have health issues, especially the unexpected emergency.  I happened to be around the Center during some of these episodes over the years and was impressed with the staff’s ability to have calmness, composure and grace under pressure as they alerted parents and emergency first responders. I think a fellow SFPCC parent (another doctor whose son has had some medical emergencies) put it perfectly when she said, 'He can’t always be with me, but SFPCC is the next best thing.' "

Music and Yoga

Music is formally integrated into the classroom experience through regular visits from Wayne Potash, a professional musician who specializes in children’s music. Wayne participates in preschool circle every other Wednesday, performing live music with his guitar and other instruments. Wayne performs for the younger classes once a month. SFPCC has had this established relationship with Wayne since 1998, and “Wayne Days” are always much anticipated days at the Center.

To prepare children for an appreciation of structured exercise, yoga instruction was introduced in 2005. Classes are taught by a former SFPCC teacher who received her certification in children’s yoga when she was a staff member. Yoga is a regular activity at the Center, with instruction provided twice a month to the preschool and toddler classes.
