anomalies in Nd and W due to the now extinct 146Sm
(half-life = 100 million years) and 182Hf (half-life
= 9 million years). |

These discoveries resulted in the first age dates of the formation
of the Earth's earliest crust (~100 million years after Solar
System formation) and its core (formed within 30 million years
of Solar System formation.) |
