The Harvard East Asia Society (HEAS) is dedicated to the goal of promoting the study of East Asia within the Harvard community and specifically among graduate students. While HEAS is centered on the Regional Studies East Asia (RSEA) degree program, it is open to all those with an interest in East Asian cultures, history, and society.

The activities of HEAS include:

o providing information to members on East Asian related activities at Harvard and in the larger academic community

o sponsoring speakers and workshops on items of interest to members

o organizing and conducting an annual academic seminar focused on East Asia, and publishing a semi-annual Alumni newsletter.

Membership in HEAS shall be open to all students currently enrolled in Harvard University, regardless of sex, race, creed, age, color, national origin, physical disability, or sexual orientation.

Membership is divided into three categories:

Members:
All students currently enrolled in the RSEA A.M., as well as graduates of the RSEA program enrolled in other degree seeking programs, shall be considered Members of HEAS and be eligible to hold elected office, serve on committees, and participate in all HEAS activities.

Associate Members:
Any graduate student with an interest in East Asia currently enrolled in any graduate program offered by Harvard University may join HEAS as an Associate Member. Associate Members shall be eligible to serve on committees and participate in all HEAS activities.

Affiliates:
Undergraduate students concentrating in East Asia may request to be granted Affiliate status. Affiliates will be eligible to participate in all HEAS activities.
