Study Abroad

Through the Harvard Summer School, RLL faculty conduct summer programs in several countries (listed below). The summer is a perfect time to improve fluency in the language/s you study, gain familiarity with culture/s you know perhaps mostly through literature or film, create friendships and share experiences that remain long after the last heat wave is a faint memory.

The Office of International Programs (OIP), the Harvard Summer School and the David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies (DRCLAS) offer several opportunities for study and work that will be of particular interest to RLL concentrators and others interested in Romance languages and cultures.

In addition to its office in Cambridge, the David Rockefeller Center has overseas offices in Santiago, Chile and São Paulo, Brazil, and soon plans to open an office in Mexico City. These offices help organize comprehensive academic and extracurricular/work experiences for Harvard students in many different Latin American countries. For specific information regarding programs and opportunities available to students, visit the David Rockefeller Center's website.

For more information about the specific Harvard Summer School programs, please consult: the Summer School website, or stop by RLL and pick up a colorful and informative brochure.

The Office of International Programs is a great resource both for those students who have a clear idea of where they would like to spend a semester or summer abroad, as well as for those students who are just beginning to explore the possibilities. In addition, the OIP coordinates direct exchange programs at the Sciences Po in Paris, and at the Bocconi University in Milan, as well as the study abroad program Consortium for Advanced Studies in Barcelona, through which students can take courses at three local universities in Barcelona. For more information on these and other opportunities, please come by the OIPs new location at 77 Dunster St., or visit the Office of International Programs web site.

Following is information about Summer School programs.

Harvard Summer school also offers programs in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic; Venice, Italy; Beijing, China; Seoul, Korea; the Czech Republic; Oxford, England; Bonn, Germany; Olympia, Greece; and Uppsala, Sweden. For more information, visit Harvard Summer School's Study Abroad pages.
