have attempted to "place as many online dictionaries at your
disposal as possible," and as a result a few of the dictionaries
that are listed no longer exist or fail to execute searches properly.
Still, with so many dictionaries to choose from it is likely that
a language student will find a useful resource here.

LookWAYup Dictionary/Thesaurus and Translation is a large online English dictionary that tolerates small spelling errors (U.S. or international spelling), and has definitions and examples for each sense of the word. Its innovative thesaurus and translations are linked to each sense of each word, showing synonyms, related terms, and usage, and optionally translating that sense to French, Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch, or German or vice-versa. Within the dictionary, you can double-click on any word in the definition to define it.
