A
little about me: I
received my B.S. from Cornell
University and my M.A. and Ph.D. from Rutgers
University. My interests include French language and civilization;
computer, multimedia and Internet applications for language
instruction; and second language acquisition.
Recent
projects and publications:
"Wired
for Sound: Teaching Listening via Computers and the
WorldWideWeb," Chapter 5 (69-92) in Donaldson and Haggstrom,
Eds., Changing Language Education Through CALL, Routledge, 2006.
Project
director for WebSpeakRecorder, a web-based voice-recording authoring
system that allows students to do oral activities in any foreign
language on the web and receive feedback from instructors on
the same web site. Funds came from a Consortial grant from the
Consortium for Language Teaching and Learning. Additional funds
were obtained from the Harvard University Provost's Fund for
Innovation in Instructional Technology for the same project.
2003 -2005.
Project
director for the Text Annotator, a web-based authoring tool
that allows instructors to give their students online glossed
texts, with text definitions in any Roman-alphabet language,
images, audio or video segments or links to any URL. Funded
with a grant from the Harvard University Provost's Fund for
Innovation in Instructional Technology and Distance Learning.
