Professor Oliver Oldman joined the Harvard Law School faculty in 1955. He was appointed Professor of Law in 1961 and became Director of the International Tax Program in 1964, a post he relinquished in July 1989 to become Senior Fellow and Advisor of ITP. In 1976, he was appointed Learned Hand Professor of Law. For ten years he directed the East Asian Legal Studies program, where he is currently Senior Fellow and Advisor. From 1984 to 1993, Professor Oldman taught the Pacific Community Legal Research Seminar emphasizing international legal aspects of development in Asia. The Seminar is the principal activity of the Pacific Community Legal Research Project, of which he continues to be the director. He has co-authored several books on taxes and finances and authored numerous articles in scholarly journals and conference volumes. His current research involves completion of a paper sponsored by the Global Infrastructure Foundation of Japan. In 1988, Professor Oldman received the Order of the Rising Sun Medal, Third Degree, from Japan Emperor Hirohito.
