Professor Mark Mulligan teaches courses in building technology, focusing on the relationship between design ideas and constructive detail. As an architect in practice, he has designed houses and buildings in the greater Boston area, Virginia, Hawaii, and Costa Rica. Prior to coming to Harvard, Professor Mulligan worked for several years with Maki & Associates in Tokyo where he collaborated on a variety of projects including an 800-seat concert hall in southern Japan and a large church in central Tokyo. He has written and translated essays on contemporary Japanese architectural practice and has lectured about this subject in the U.S. and abroad. He received a B.A. in architecture from Yale University and an M.Arch from the Harvard Graduate School of Design.
