HARVARD COLLEGE JAPAN SUMMER INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
Harvard coordinates a wide array of summer internship opportunities in Japan for undergraduates in any concentration. As interns, students lean about the local culture of their city and work place while contributing to a project defined by the host organization. Since 1988, nearly 300 Harvard College students have worked in consulting and financial firms, on the campuses of top Japanese universities, in the office of parliamentary members and NGOs, in leading science labs, and even in a propeller factory, a hotel bakery, and an antiquarian bookstore. Internships last a minimum of 8 weeks, from early June to early August. Students may ask RI to help match their interests with host organizations in Japan, or they may find intern hosts on their own and apply to RI only for funding support. An internship information session will take place on Nov. 2 (Monday), in CGIS Knafel Buidling (1737 Cambridge St.), Bowie-Vernon Room K262.
Application will be available soon on CARAT (https://asperin.fas.harvard.edu/carat/), Harvard's web-based common application tool.
Application deadline: MONDAY, JAN. 4, 2010. For more information contact Theodore Gilman, Associate Director, Reischauer Institute.

Following their period of research, may awardees have submitted prize-winning senior theses. Students seeking to apply should consult with faculty members well in advance of the application deadline to plan and receive approval for a senior thesis topic. The Harvard Asia Center also provides grants to support senior thesis research. Apply using CARAT, Harvard's web-based common application tool, at https://asperin.fas.harvard.edu/carat/.
