Research Administration Services Workshops on Award Administration, Budgeting, and Systems

Date: Mondays from 1:30-3 pm (see below for specifics)

11/30 CREW Sponsored Basics Learn to download and use the CREW Sponsored Account Report (SAR), Period Expense Report (PER) and Detail Listings (DL).  Includes downloading .PDF and Comma Separated Value (csv) files, and formatting, manipulating data, and using pivot tables in Excel. Access* to at least one Fund AND
1. ability to run the CREW Period Expense Report and Sponsored Account Report  2. ability to run CREW Detail Listing for that fund
12/7 CREW Beyond the PER Download and understand CREW Sponsored reports not covered above plus more on CREW functionality and Excel shortcuts-- including "value lookups". Access* to at least one Fund AND ability to run all CREW grants management reports except the monthly salary certification.
12/14 Budgeting for Proposals and Awards using the Excel budget template Learn to use the Budget & Budget Justification Templates on the FAS Research Administration Services website so that you can prepare proposals and administer awards more effectively. Familiarity with Microsoft Excel recommended.
12/21 Introduction to FASSPAR Introduction to FAS Sponsored Program Accounting Reports (FASSPAR), an intuitive web based application created for faculty-level administrators and their PIs.  Workshop will demo reports on budgets, expenses, personnel, purchase order information, and invalid code combinations. Access to at least one Root in FASSPAR*.

GMAS Basics Introduction to Grants Management Application Suite (GMAS), the database for all sponsored award information. Participants will learn how to search for awards and download Action Memos, Sponsor Notices, & Proposals. Access to at least one Fund in GMAS*.
TBD FASSPAR Projections Use FASSPAR to create customized projections to be uploaded and used again with actual costs in future months. Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and FASSPAR.

Provides researchers and administrators with the framework to determine what may be charged to sponsored awards and why. By the end of the session, participants should be able to: Determine what a sponsored award is, define direct and indirect costs, and apply cost principles to any sponsored awards.
