Learn to download and understand the CREW Period Expense Report (PER) and Detail Listings (DLs). Includes downloading .pdf and .csv files, and formatting, manipulating data, and using pivot tables in Excel. Click here to see upcoming class dates and locations and TO REGISTER.

1. ability to run the CREW Period Expense Report and Sponsored Account Report

2. ability to run CREW Detail Listing for that fund

Learn to use the Budget & Budget Justification Templates on the FAS Research Administration Services website so that you can prepare proposals and administer awards more effectively. Click here to see upcoming class dates and locations and TO REGISTER.

Familiarity with Microsoft Excel recommended.

Introduction to FAS Sponsored Program Accounting Reports (FASSPAR), an intuitive web-based application created for faculty-level administrators and their PIs.  Workshop will demo reports on budgets, expenses, personnel, purchase order information, and invalid code combinations. Access to at least one Root in FASSPAR*.

Use FASSPAR to create customized projections to be uploaded and used again with actual costs in future months. Click here to see upcoming class dates and locations and TO REGISTER.

Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and FASSPAR.

1/2 day workshop attempts to provide researchers and administrators with the framework used to determine whether or not a specific expense can be charged to a sponsored award. By the end of the session, participants should be able to: Determine what a sponsored award is. Define direct and indirect costs. Understand the importance of following sponsor requirements. Case studies illustrating the AARC (Allowability, Allocability, Reasonableness, and Consistency) concepts for deciding what can be purchased with sponsored funds. Workshop covers basics of FAS equipment management, including definitions of equipment, systems, and fabrications, the importance of object codes when purchasing equipment, and use of Equipster, the FAS equipment database. Click here to see upcoming class dates and locations and TO REGISTER.

IACUC Approval for Sponsored Projects

Overview of federal regulations regarding sponsored funds for the use of animals in research (includes on-site use of animals, outsources animal work, and animal work performed at collaborating institutions). Workshop explains Public Health Service (PHS) policy application to federally sponsored projects, the jus-in-time policy for providing proof of IACUC approval, how/where to find IACUC approval in GMAS, and when to request IACUC approval information and/or approval letters.
