Education Initiatives in FAS, including RA Certificate Program

Karen Woodward Massey, Director of Education and Outreach, FAS RAS
Pat Fitzgerald, Associate Dean for Research Administration, FAS RAS

Karen and Pat outlined some recent training initiatives for research administrators.

REACH: The former training model was to let each school be responsible for its own training program, but there have been recent initiatives designed to combine forces across Harvard to develop a Research Excellence in Administration Certificate at Harvard (REACH). Teams have been formed to develop curricula for the Basics and Intermediate certificates, and the team to develop the Advanced curriculum will be formed at a later date. The program will be ready to pilot sometime in Fiscal Year 2011. There will be an application process, a prerequisite (the Sponsored Projects Administration Overview course), and assessments of learning.

RAE: The Research Administration Education (RAE) team is an FAS-specific team working to develop and maintain education initiatives in research administration at FAS. Most of the major research departments at FAS have someone on the RAE team. If you are interested in any research administration educational initiatives at FAS, please let Karen know (kwmassey@fas.harvard.edu).
