Figure It Out Sessions
Figure It Out Sessions are the ad-hoc response to the unique challenges that confront administrators working on proposals in the social sciences and humanities. Framed as a collaborative endeavor between FAS RAS and administrators in departments and centers, the Figure It Out Sessions aim to: 1) build knowledge about grants quickly, and from the ground up; and 2) develop a series of tools and resources that are highly targeted to the unique grants challenges faced by administrators in the social sciences and humanities here at Harvard.
Figure It Outs' initial focus was NSF grants. The NSF-specific resources created over the course of nearly a year's worth of meetings are posted below. Also included are general grants resources-- such as "how to's" specific to fringe benefit and indirect cost calculations-- that Figure It Outers confirmed as helpful to their work on grants.
Upcoming Figure It Out meetings will center on general topics, such as cost sharing, and may also zero in on the application processes of specific sponsors, such as NEH. Meetings are open to administrators in any FAS department or center but are geared toward the Social Sciences and Humanities divisions.
Comments, questions, and suggestions are always welcomed, and can be directed to Kathryn Coughlin, Director of Research Development, at coughlin@fas.harvard.edu or 5-6907.
