The Art of Proposal Writing
Workshop for FAS Faculty
Barker Center, Thompson Room
FAS Research Development will sponsor a program on proposal writing for FAS faculty on April 8, 2013, 12:00-1:30pm in the Barker Center Thompson Room. The Art of Proposal Writing is designed for faculty in the humanities and social sciences who plan to apply for external funding, with a focus on writing fellowship and sabbatical proposals. The workshop will feature guest speaker Cynthia Verba, Director of Fellowships in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, and a panel of three FAS faculty who have written award-winning proposals. The panel will provide strategies for developing a successful proposal based on their own experience as successful grant writers. There will be ample opportunity for discussion; lunch will be provided.

National Endowment for the Humanities Sponsor Visit and Panel Discussion
Lamont Library Forum Room
On April 22, FAS Research Development will host a visit from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH). The visit will include presentations by Marc Ruppel, PhD, Senior Program Officer for the NEH Division of Public Programs and Pleun Bouricious, PhD, Assistant Director of Mass Humanities. The presentations will be followed by a panel discussion with recent NEH award recipients and reviewers. Coffee and refreshments will be provided. Seating is limited so registration is required. Individual Consultations with Dr. Ruppel, April 22, 2-5pm and April 23, 9-2:30pm
Dr. Ruppel will be available for consultations with individuals or collaborative groups to discuss programs or projects that they plan to submit for NEH funding. To schedule a 30 minute appointment with Dr. Ruppel, please contact Erin Cromack at cromack@fas.harvard.edu. Candidates will be asked to email a one-page description of their projects to Dr. Ruppel at least one week prior to the consultation.
