FAS Research Administration Services: Post Award

ARRA

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009 was signed by President Obama on February 17, 2009. The ARRA commits $787 billion in stimulus funds, a portion of which has been allocated towards sponsored research.
FAS was awarded over $45 million in ARRA funds. In order to help our departments manage the complex reporting and highly scrutinized nature of these funds, we have dedicated School ARRA Specialists on staff.

The School ARRA Specialists (SAS) Group is primarily responsible for the development, implementation, and oversight of consistent operational processes associated with Harvard University's ARRA awards. Each SAS serves as the primary contact for their respective school to address all ARRA-related inquiries. They also act as a liaison between their school (central offices, departments, and PIs) and OSP to facilitate timely responses for reporting, reviews, general inquiries, and audits. Together, the SAS group aims to build a cohesive, University-wide approach to ARRA reporting by developing consistent business processes that are adhered to by all schools. Each school is represented at the SAS meetings, as the goal of the group is to overcome inherent cultural and administrative differences across the University. Any issues that have an operational impact on ARRA reporting must be brought to the SAS Group for prioritization and assessment. For any questions on ARRA in FAS please contact our FAS ARRA team.
