From 1-2 pm we'll cover the basics of equipment management and Equipster, and from 2-3 pm we'll work on answering questions and solving problems that departments have encountered recently. Participants are welcome to attend from 1-2, from 2-3, or the entire time, according to individual needs. 1-2 pm: Equipment Management Basics
- Topics: Equipment management, including log-in and use of Equipster, the FAS equipment database
- Download the FAS Equipment Basics Workbook (PDF) Here
- Pre-requisite: Access to Equipster (to obtain access, email appsec@fas.harvard.edu)
2-3 pm: Equipment Management Problem Solving Session
- Bring questions and issues to the group for help from peers and subject matter experts
- Computers will be available so you can log in and fix problems in "real time"

Equipment management at Harvard is governed by individual school policies.
FAS uses an intuitive web-based equipment database called Equipster. Equipster use is mandatory for departments that have capital equipment costs and perform work on sponsored research projects. In addition, departmental population of Equipster Asset Information pages documents the make, model, serial number, and location of items as recommended by the Central Administration in the Contents/Equipment Insurance policy description. Finally, Equipster also allows users to do away with most of the paper forms listed in the Central Administration equipment policy.
