Guidelines for Applicants
Applications must be submitted online no later than Thursday, April 4, 2013 by 5:00PM
This site contains information on selected funding opportunities available to eligible faculty and postdoctoral fellows university-wide. These funding opportunities require a Harvard University nomination. Applicants may not apply directly to the sponsor. Applicants are required to submit an application to the University Committee on Biological Sciences (UCBS), a Harvard-wide committee with representatives from the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, the Medical School, and the School of Public Health. The UCBS reviews all applications for these opportunities and selects and notifies the nominees.
The UCBS selects nominees on a semi-annual (fall/spring) schedule. Descriptions of the awards and an electronic application form with application instructions are available using the navigation bar on the left. The deadline for applications is Thursday, April 4, 2013 at 5:00PM. Applicants will be notified of the results of the UCBS selection by the end of June.
The application must include a letter of nomination from the applicant’s department chair and co-signed by a research mentor. Thus, early in the process, eligible faculty members and postdoctoral researchers should discuss their interest in applying for this award(s) with their mentor and department chair and departmental administrator. Department chairs may nominate more than one candidate from their department for each award.
Please note that the awards and eligibility requirements on this site are checked as frequently as possible for accuracy. However, the foundations’ programs (including availability/eligibility criteria) are subject to change at the discretion of the foundation and without notice. Therefore, you should refer directly to the website of any foundation that interests you when developing your application.
Please note that Harvard Medical School has a separate internal nomination process for awards, and HMS faculty and postdocs should apply through the HMS Foundation Funds, NOT the UCBS.
