How often should I have our piano tuned?

We recommend a minimum of 3 tunings per year.

Do you rent pianos?

No. Occasionally there is a piano that we can loan to Harvard departments. Please contact the Piano Technical Services office for availability of rental pianos.

Do you move pianos?

No. All piano moving is performed by outside professional piano movers. Contact PTS for piano moving referrals.

Do you sell pianos?

PTS does not sell pianos but can advise in the purchase of an instrument.

Can I purchase piano accouterments through PTS?

If you are an FAS affiliate, we will aid in the purchase of such accouterments as covers, locks, benches and casters.

Do you tune or repair organs?

No. We work exclusively on acoustic stringed keyboard instruments.

Do you accept piano donations?

It depends on the quality and condition of the piano. We will be happy to evaluate an instrument in the Cambridge area.

Do you permit piano preparation?

Preparation is considered on a case-by-case basis. Please read our Services page for our preparation policies.

Do PTS personnel do piano work outside of Harvard?

Most of our staff performs outside work. Meet our staff.
