Introduction

In this online version of World Religions in Boston we are expanding the interfaith section to include a series of profiles; in previous editions, we offered a list of interfaith resources. The burgeoning interfaith movement includes a wide range of activities, from interfaith dialogue to presentations, from providing services to creative projects such as the Faith Quilts project. There are now so many interfaith groups in Boston that the spring of 2004 saw a regional gathering of suburban groups to discuss ways to more effectively coordinate their activities.

These profiles represent a work in progress as we follow up on groups that have been existence for years, locate and write on newer groups, and explore the differing and common forms and "best practices" we find among them. We are in the process of drafting a brief history of the interfaith movement in the Boston area, which we will post here upon completion. For the time being, please review the profiles, which we have more than doubled in the past year, and search our Religious Diversity News under 'Interfaith' and 'Boston' for a sampling of news summaries about the current interfaith activities in the Boston Area.
