The Photography Collection was founded in 1972 by Dr. Barbara Norfleet who remains the curator and director. The collections consist of: 1. The Social Ethics Collection on social reform in the United Statesfrom 1895 to 1910.-- approximately 7000 images. 2. The Art Photographers' Collection on the history of photography--approximately 2500 images. 3. The Candid Studio Photographers' collection emphasizing social behavior and life in the United States from 1945 to 1965-- approximately 2500 images and 40,000 negatives with contacts.
