General Information

Overview

For undergraduates, the Department offers:

  • Honors and non-honors concentrations in philosophy
  • Primary and secondary joint concentrations in conjunction with other departments
  • A secondary track in philosophy
  • A Philosophy Track in the Mind/Brain/Behavior program.

Students who are thinking about concentrating in philosophy are invited to peruse the information found in the links in the next section to learn more.

They are also welcome to contact the Head Tutor, Undergraduate Coordinator, or the MBB Advisor to learn more about the concentration.

Requirements

General Requirements
These are the General Requirements for the A.B. concentration in philosophy from the FAS Registrar's Office
Joint Concentrations
Students can find information on Joint Concentrations at the bottom of the General Requirements page.
Secondary Track in Philosophy
The Secondary Track in Philosophy allows students to study philosophy outside of their concentration, without having to combine these in a joint thesis project.
Mind/Brain/Behavior (MBB) Track

Activities

Advising
Undergraduate concentrators are assigned faculty advisors. More information about this may be found at the link to the left.

There are four prizes in philosophy for which undergraduates may compete. Click on the link to the left to learn more.
Research Assistant Opportunities
From time to time, professors will hire undergraduates to assist with library research or editing during the term or in the summer. Please click on the link at left to see what opportunities may be available.
