On Nov 28 2005, MESOPOTAMIA Talk Series Presents

the pair-approximation method

by Hisashi Ohtsuki

Recently, studies on the effect of spatial and geometrical structure in biology have been drawing much attention. Pair-approximation method is a strong and convenient mathematical tool that enables us to understand spatial complexity. I will try to illustrate the mathematical basis of this technique with studying some toy-examples. Topics are: pair-approximation, pair-edge approximation and spatial invasion (if time allows). This is an introductory course of the pair-approximation.
