FAS Committee on Public Service
Established in 1996, the FAS Standing Committee on Public Service includes approximately eighteen faculty and student members. Faculty members are appointed to the Committee by the Dean of FAS; those who are interested in serving are urged to contact the Chair of the Committee. Students nominate themselves annually in the Fall and are selected by the Associate Dean of Harvard College and Director of Phillips Brooks House, the Chair of the FAS Committee on Public Service and the Dean of Harvard College. The Committee meets monthly and "will oversee all public service and volunteer programs authorized by the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. The committee will consider the role of these programs in the educational life of students and will advise the Acting Associate Dean of Harvard College and Director of Phillips Brooks House and the Dean of Harvard College on matters of scale, cost, and priority, aiming to make the best possible use of available resources. The committee will advise the deans on all aspects of public service programs and activity."
Members of the FAS Committee on Public Service will be announced soon for the 2007-2008 Academic Year.
