1. Joining the Young Nonprofit Professional Network

Over the past several months, the Boston chapter of the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network (YNPN) has been working to develop ways to engage and connect young people working in the public sector. The goal of YNPN is to provide list serve subscribers with information about professional development, networking and social opportunities.

We would like to invite you to subscribe to the list serve and to share this message with any friends and colleagues that you think might be interested in being a part of this exciting program!

2. League of Women Voters Internships

The League of Women Voters of Massachusetts seeks an intern to work on its Vote 2008 Campaign, which aims to increase voter participation, awareness, and education by providing comprehensive, nonpartisan voting and election information to Massachusetts voters. Interns are responsible for contacting candidates to solicit responses for the LWV Voters Guide, preparing voters rights and responsibilities presentations, performing campaign public relations and outreach, along with other duties as assigned. Interns can earn a stipend or class credit. If you're interested in applying, please send your resume and cover letter to Kimberly Jerdon at lwvma@lwvma.org.

3. Participate in Harvard Reads and Counts

Are you work-study eligible, and interested in tutoring math and/or literacy to youth in the local community?  If so, apply to work with Harvard Reads and Counts - this program answers former President Clinton's call for volunteer assistance to help children learn to read and do math at grade level. Harvard Reads and Counts tutors serve pre-school through early high school-aged children.  Volunteers receive training and are placed in the
program of their choice. Training is free and open to all Harvard students. Harvard Reads and Counts pays $10.05/hr. to undergraduates and $14.15/hr. to graduate students who are eligible for Federal Work-Study.  Download the Reads & Counts application.
