Daphne Pezaris Maramaldi joined the Office of International Programs in the spring of 2005 as Project Manager. In this role, she has managed several OIP directed initiatives, including the Funding Database for International Experience, the Innovation & Initiatives Abroad symposium, and StudioAbroad, the on-line credit transfer application system.

Prior to her post at Harvard, she held a faculty position at the University of Utah College of Social Work, where she designed and implemented the College’s first international initiative. With the title of Director of International Education, she administered international field placements, organized conferences and facilitated global research and scholarship. She also developed formal institutional agreements to promote exchange programs for faculty and students.

Before moving to Salt Lake City, Daphne was the Director of Programs & Resident Life at International House New York—a Rockefeller funded institution that houses 700 graduate students representing more than 100 different countries. Daphne directed cultural programs designed to complement graduate study through collaborations with the United Nations, distinguished speaker programs, professional mentoring and a variety of creative programs reflecting current world affairs. She also directed the Women’s International Leadership Program and co-managed cross-cultural mental health services.

Daphne holds an undergraduate degree from Cornell University and a master’s from Teachers College, Columbia University. As an undergraduate, Daphne studied abroad in Athens, Greece. This life changing experience drew her to the field of international education, and is thus a strong advocate for Harvard students pursuing substantive cross-cultural experiences. Her current educational endeavor is being mother to her 5 year-old son and 2 year-old daughter.
