Sydney M. Williams, Jr. Traveling Fellowship for the Visual Arts

The Sydney M. Williams, Jr. Traveling Fellowship will provide small grants to qualified Harvard College students making original works of art who wish to travel abroad (primarily during the summer) in order to advance a specific creative project in the visual arts.

Application instructions
Step 1. Fill out the Common Application for Research and Travel (CARAT) online. Select the Office of International Programs as the organization to which you are applying. Print out your completed CARAT forms and submit hard copies to the OIP. The CARAT provides OIP with an applicant cover sheet, some descriptive information, and a proposed budget. You will also be required to submit the standard OIP Summer Grants Cover Sheet, a statement of purpose, an unofficial transcript, and a letter of recommendation as part of the supplementary materials.

Step 2. As this grant is awarded by the Department of Visual and Environmental Studies, applicants are also required to submit:
- a detailed itinerary
- a portfolio or slides/digital images of artwork
- a second letter of recommendation
