OIP Summer Grants
OIP Summer Awards provide funds to support undergraduate study, research and internships outside the US. Projects should be
four weeks or more in duration, represent an immersion experience, and include a language study
component whenever possible.
OIP Summer Grants are supported by many funds. Some funding sources have particular academic foci, while others support activities
in a geographic region like Africa, Asia or the Middle East. A wide range of international summer programs, research, or internship
projects may qualify for an OIP Summer Grant. All undergraduates except graduating seniors are eligible to apply, and all students receiving OIP Summer Grants are required to submit reports on their experiences when they return to campus.
Students should apply through the OIP Summer Grants Application for travel in summer 2009. For travel during the semester, application information and deadlines are forthcoming. A complete application consists of the Common Application for Research and Travel (CARAT), available online at https://asperin.fas.harvard.edu/carat/ [1], as well as:
- The OIP Summer Funding Cover Sheet
- A proposal that describes the program or project (approx. 300 words)
- An unofficial transcript
- A letter of recommendation from a Harvard faculty member, TF, or advisor. If you provided a letter of recommendation to apply for your program/project, you may use this same letter.
- A letter of acceptance from the program/site or program sponsor (if not available at time of application, evidence of the student’s application to the program must be submitted). If you are applying to a Harvard-run program, or if you are doing independent research with a Harvard faculty member or conducting thesis research, please provide the name of the contact for the program/project at Harvard.
Application materials should be submitted to the Office of International Programs, 2 Arrow Street, 4th floor by Friday, February 27th by 4 pm for travel in summer 2009. Awards will be announced by April 15th.
