Welcome to Harvard College's annual international photo contest and exhibition! All current Harvard students who have studied, worked, interned, or done research abroad are encouraged to submit their best photos in the following four categories:

     1. Landscape/Nature
     2. Sense of Place/Culture
     3. People
     4. Architecture

Deadline for submission is Friday, October 9, 2009.

Click here to download an entry form. Each student may compete in up to 2 categories (one photograph per category).

Our judge is Deborah Martin-Kao, Richard L. Menschel Curator of Photography of the Fogg Art Museum and Senior Lecturer in History of Art and Architecture.
A specialist in mid-twentieth-century American art, she has organized exhibitions, lectured, and published on a wide array of topics. She is co-author of the award-winning exhibition catalogue Ben Shahn's New York: The Photography of Modern Times (Yale Press: 2000), and Gary Schneider: Portraits (Yale Press: 2004).

Exhibition
The opening reception - during which photo contest winners will be announced - will be held on Thursday, November 19 from 5:00-6:30pm in the Fisher Family Commons, CGIS North. Winning photographs will remain on exhibit until December 17.

• Special Japan prize:
an iPod shuffle for the best photo taken in Japan, sponsored by the Reischauer Institute of Japanese Studies
• Special Korea prize: a copy of "Azalea: A Journal of Korean Culture and Literature" signed by Professor David McCann for the best photo taken in Korea, sponsored by the Korea Institute
• Special DRCLAS honorable mention: a $50 gift certificate to Olé for the best photo taken in Latin America, sponsored by the David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies
• Special Harvard Summer School prize: a Harvard Summer School blanket for the best photo from among submissions taken by Harvard Summer School students, sponsored by the Harvard Summer School
• Special Center for European Studies prize: for the best photo taken in Europe, sponsored by the Center for European Studies
• Special South Asia Initiative prize: for the best photo taken in South Asia, sponsored by the South Asia Initiative
