The Committee on Education Abroad and the Office of International Programs are pleased to announce the continuation of the
innovation grant program for faculty seeking support for initiatives in education abroad for undergraduates.
The International Innovation Fund will provide support for initiatives that seek to combine academic work in Cambridge with
international study, research, internships, service, or employment. Priority in making these awards will be given to innovative
pilot projects involving students in study, research or work abroad that could develop into ongoing or larger programs; exploration
by the faculty of destinations and institutions that will add to our range of offerings; and projects that build on existing
curricular offerings at Harvard to create new international opportunities for Harvard College students. Funding cannot be given
through this program for short field-trips associated with existing courses, such as spring-break trips, or for the continuation of
existing projects.
Applications will be reviewed by the Committee on Education Abroad. Applications should consist of the
cover sheet,
a proposal of no more than 1500 words, and a proposed budget. The Committee contemplates awards in the $4000 to $8000 range,
encourages smaller requests, welcomes cost sharing with other Harvard units and will consider larger amounts in unusual circumstances.
Funds will be disbursed in the fiscal year 2007-2008.
The deadline for applications for the Fall 2007 competition will be Monday, November 5.
Decisions will be announced by Wednesday, December 5. Proposals
should be sent electronically to Cathy Winnie, Director of International Programs:
hutchis@fas, who will also be happy
to answer any questions about this initiative (4-7521).
