Steven J. Zipperstein, currently the Gerald Weinstock Visiting Professor in Jewish History at Harvard, is the Daniel E. Koshland Professor in Jewish Culture and History at Stanford University.  He has published widely in Russian and East European Jewish History, and most recently in American Jewish cultural studies.  His newest book -- "I Have Not Told Half of What I Saw"  On Reading Isaac Rosenfeld -- will be published next year by Yale University Press. Among his earlier books are The Jews of Odessa, 1794-1881; Elusive Prophet: Ahad Ha'am and the Origins of Zionism; and Imagining Russian Jewry:  Memory, History Identity.  He writes often for specialist, and general periodicals including the New York Times, Dissent, Ha-Aretz, and teaches courses in modern Jewish history, Russian history, and biography and history.  He has taught at universities in Russia, Poland, France, and Israel, and he spent six years teaching at Oxford.
