Miri Kubovy


Miri Kubovy is Professor of The Practice of Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations, and the Director of the Modern Hebrew Program at Harvard University.

Miri Kubovy came to Harvard from Yale University, where she had taught for sixteen years. She translated three books and published numerous articles on modern Hebrew literature, especially on the narrative of S.Y. Agnon, on avant-garde Israeli poetry, on the young writers of the '90s, mainly Etgar Keret and Orly Caste Bloom, and on postmodernism and multi culturalism in Israeli literature.

Professor Kubovy is the recipient of the 1990 Yale University Excellence in Teaching Prize , The Harvard 2002-2003 Distinction In Teaching Certificate, and other academic awards.

Miri Kubovy was elected member of the Ct. Academy of Arts and Sciences in 1991. In 1995 Miri Kubovy was made Honorary Professor at the Free University of Berlin, where she teaches special seminars and gives invited lectures.
