About NCC Information Literacy Resources Portal
The NCC's Information Literacy Resources portal has been developed as a part of the NCC's E-Resource Training initiative which has began in 2004 with major funding provided by the Japan Foundation. Other components of the initiative include the T-3 (Training the Trainers) Workshops and the E-Resource Training Workshops offered nationwide.
The goals of the E-Resource Training initiative are:
- To promote greater information literacy among faculty and students in electronic resources in Japanese studies by offering a series of user training workshops
- To train librarian-instructors to effectively teach faculty and student users of electronic resources
- To collaboratively prepare instructional and educational materials to be widely shared by both instructors and users of Japanese electronic resources
NCC Information Literacy Resources portal is being collaboratively developed by a group of instructors of Japanese electronic resources who participated in the T-3 Workshops in 2004 and 2005 to be widely shared with anyone who teaches or wants to learn Japanese electronic resources.
The NCC's Information Literacy Resources portal was created with a grant from the Japan Foundation and first launched in March 2006. The original page was developed by Tokiko Bazzell and Yoko Okunishi, Brigid Laffey, the NCC's Webmaster designed and implemented the page. As of April 1, 2006 Dawn Lawson became the coordinator of this portal and will over see its development in the coming year.
