JAC Project: Status Report (December 2004)

Reiko Yoshimura, Freer Gallery of Art/Arthur M. Sackler Gallery
Smithsonian Institution Libraries

The gallery received an announcement from the National Art Center, Tokyo which will open in 2007, stating that the JAC Project, along with the Art Catalog Library will be transferred to the National Art Center, Tokyo after next shipment in early 2005. They plan to continue supporting the JAC Project (a copy of the announcement attached (NACTokyo.pdf)).

The gallery received $12,000 from an anonymous donor, towards cataloging JAC Project materials. The gallery is seeking additional funding so that we can create at least a temporarily half-time cataloging position.

There were no additional shipments since last report (July 2004). The number of catalogs received since 1996 is 4136 in total.1

2. Cataloging: Total number of records in RLIN (as of July 2004): 3363
