Berenika Zakrzewski '05
Pianist, arts administration
concert pianist, government joint concentrator
Music concentrator because:
I am a concert pianist and the music deparment at Harvard offered me the capacity to grow as a musician and scholar. I also joined my music concentration with Government, as I wanted to see my place as an artist and musician in a context beyond myself.
Current job:
In addition to performing, I have added another element to my career path. I have the unique position of both Artistic and Executive Director of an orchesra I founded in Orange County, CA: the Dana Point Symphony. I curate innovative programs for the orchestra as well as manage the organization. I am also a consultant to cities and non-profits, helping from both the artistic and management prespective.
The way music fits into that:
Music is a great connector of people and it functions as a conduit for social and economic progress in various fields. Music as it relates to people's lives is a powerful tool for transformation and innovation.
