Symposium on Technology in Undergraduate Education

The Symposium on Technology in Undergraduate Science Education took place at Harvard University on June 15-16, 2006. Presenters discussed a variety of innovative technologies for science education, while focusing on how to best address students’ needs. The program also included workshops that provided practical advice on incorporating technology into teaching, and a poster session that allowed participants to share ideas and projects.

Topics included:

• Methods of assessing the impact of technology on learning
• The use of technology to:
• Promote interactive teaching and learning (e.g. multimedia, virtual learning environments, personal response systems)
• Enhance content distribution (e.g. Podcasting, iTunes U)
• Engage students with varying backgrounds
• Aid in scientific visualization
• Understand complexity in science
