State of the Union, 2003 I turned this bowl from a pruned branch of a maple tree that stood in front of the Harvard Museum of Natural History. The tree is no longer there; it was cut down a year later. After finishing turning the bowl, I noticed a void on the side that reminded me of an imprint of the map of the USA - hence the name: State of the Union. This piece appeared in the book 500 Wood Bowls, Lark Books, 2004. |
