Our Bed, 2004

reclaimed pine, found chair brackets, mahogany.

This bed is constructed from found lumber (sugar pine, southern yellow pine, fir) and a set of steel piston brackets I dismantled from an old office chair, that I found on the street.
I designed a two-way miter joint to connect the rails to the legs, secured with only two screws per leg. The rails are pushed tight into a wedged corner that register them into a square angle to the leg; the screws tightens and lock the joint.
