Field trip to the Powderhouse woodworkers, 2006.
In 2006 we payed a visit to the Powderhouse woodworkers studios for the second time. We met Mitch Ryerson, who was in the middle of an interesting plywood and copper bench project. We also met Judy Kensley McKie who showed us her new pieces. Most of Judy’s pieces are carved out from plastic foam, then the sculptured foam is sent to a foundry to be cast in bronze, resin, or cast iron. On accessions Judy makes pieces that are made entirely out of wood.
