Cutting and serving boards
I handcraft all my boards from pieces I salvaged from lumberyards or woodworkers’ shops.
Each board has its own unique characteristics and its own distinctive “look”: a sculptural form, an intriguing cavity, or a trace of bark. Some boards have cavities that I’ve filled with a colorful epoxy resin; others have an emphasized three-dimensional terrain.
I design and turn each handle so that it complements the natural shape and beauty of its board. The handles are crafted with a wooden tenon that fits into a mortise-hole in the board—they are glued into place for an extra-secure fit.
Finally, I hand rub the board with walnut oil to give it a matte shine.
